ECOP participates in the Women Workers’ Forum on the ILO Convention No. 190

In celebration of National Women’s Month, the International Labor Organization, in partnership with the Women Workers Union, organized a forum entitled “Women Workers’ Forum on the ILO Convention No. 190 Implementation: Moving Forward in Policy and Practice” last March 1, 2024 at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City.

The forum discussed and gathered practical recommendations on opportunities in terms of policies, strategies, plans, and programs that can be leveraged to align both law and practice with C190, particularly at the workplace levels, and to identify agreements and joint actions of trade unions to push for the effective implementation of C190.

ECOP served as one of the panel discussants providing private sector response on the application of C190 at the workplace level. The presentation focused on ECOP’s different initiatives and programs related to the promotion of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. Some key areas where ECOP plays an active role in promoting women’s rights involve policy advocacy and representation on labor and employment issues affecting women and the promotion of the importance of the role of women in business, especially in leadership roles.

The hybrid forum was attended by participants from WWU TWG/Convenors, member labor organizations, and other women leaders at the local and national levels and women leaders of local affiliates of Global Union Federations (GUFs).

ECOP was represented by Ms. Rhodora Snyder, Senior Manager, CSR Department OSH Academy, Ms. Jiannah Beatrice Rosal, Advocacy and Communications Senior Associate, and Ms. Shiela Marie Ramos, CSR and OSH Academy Specialist, in this event.
