The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) conferred the Gawad Lakan ng Kalakalan to Feliciano L. Torres during the 40th National Conference of Employers (NCE 40).
Torres, a self-made businessman and former ECOP Vice President, epitomizes the essence of true business leadership
He has been cited for being a leader in the automotive industry and responsible for the country being known to the world as Southeast Asia’s wiring harness capital.
Moreover, Torres is described as a visionary who had great plans for the country, being instrumental in sustaining the good economic relations between Japan and the Philippines thereby attracting more investments for the county and generating more employment for the Filipino people.
He is also a philanthropist who gave back to society, setting up livelihood projects for the benefit of the community, establishing training programs for the youth and smaller enterprises, and making sure the culture of cooperation and productivity is embedded.
Lastly, Torres was lauded for investing heavily on the quality of work and life, industrial peace and harmony, and human resources by operating his business responsibly, changing the lives of his employees, their families, and the community and, by steering the growth not just of his own company but also the whole automotive industry. “He made great contributions not just to our economy, but also to Japan’s.”
