As the effects of high inflation continue to dampen the purchasing capacity of Filipinos, issuing a wage hike for minimum wage earners was a logical solution to augment their living conditions. On 26 June 2023, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) issued Wage Order No. NCR-24 for minimum wage earners in the private sector within the NCR.

To help raise awareness and better understanding on the newly released wage order, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) will conduct an Executive Labor Update (ELU) on the topic, “New Wage Hike: the Salient Features and Impact of Wage Order No. NCR-24” on 24 July 2023 (Monday), 2:00 – 4:00 PM via Zoom.

The webinar will provide an in-depth discussion of the issuance and its proper implementation. ECOP, through this webinar, aims to inform and guide employers regarding their duties and responsibilities to effectively comply to the Wage Order.

Under Wage Order No. NCR-24, an increase in the daily minimum wage by Php40 will bring the new basic pay rate to Php610 for non-agriculture sector workers and Php573 for the agriculture sector, service and retail establishments, and manufacturing establishments. This wage order will take effect after 15 days from its publication in a newspaper of general circulation, or on 16 July 2023.
