As the global call for responsible and sustainable business practices grows, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), with support from the ILO Employers’ Activities Programme (ACT/EMP) through its LEADER initiative, successfully rolled out the pilot testing of its Comprehensive ESG Training Program on 29–30 April 2025 at St. Giles Hotel, Makati City.
The two-day pilot was a key component of ECOP’s upcoming program, Elevate. Sustain. Grow: Good for Business, Great for the Planet. Designed to test the training’s delivery and approach, the pilot aimed to gather feedback to refine the package ahead of its official launch. The initial rollout ran through seven<> modules of the ESG program, tackling various aspects of environmental, social, and governance integration within business operations.
Three pioneering organizations participated in the rollout: EMS Group, Coolaire Consolidated, and Universidad de Zamboanga—representing the manufacturing, logistics, and academe sectors, respectively. Members of the ECOP Secretariat also took part in the training as part of the “train-the-trainers” component under the scope of the national consultant’s engagement.
The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Jonas Marie Dumdum, ISC Senior Consultant and Lead of Nomura Research Institute (NRI) Singapore–Manila Branch, whose extensive work in sustainability brought clarity and relevance to the discussions. The pilot also featured group workshops and case studies, allowing participants to examine ESG issues through the lens of their respective industries.
With growing momentum around environmental, social, and governance issues, ECOP recognizes the need to support employers in integrating sustainable and responsible business practices into their core operations—through the Comprehensive ESG Training Program set to launch on 31 July 2025.
