The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) conducted a Training of Trainers Workshop on Responsible Business Conduct for Industry Associations last 8-9 October 2019 at Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City.

The capacity building workshop was conducted under the Responsible Supply Chains in Asia (RSCA) project. The RSCA project is a three-year program spearheaded by the European Union (EU), Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD), and the ILO. The project’s objective is to promote sustainable and inclusive growth by ensuring that investors and businesses have a better understanding and are made aware of practical examples of responsible business practices. This is done by organizing training activities to strengthen the capacities of employers’ organizations in the Philippines.

The capacity building program consists of two (2) components. First is the discussion on occupational safety and health (OSH) and responsible business conduct (RBC) covering child labor, equal opportunity and treatment, wages and benefits, collective bargaining agreement, and freedom of association. Second is the training simulation led by the participants in order to capacitate them in sharing and cascading their learnings to their members.

The capacity building workshop was attended by twenty-five (25) officers & secretariat staff from Philippine Exporters Confederation (PHILEXPORT), PHILEXPORT Southern Tagalog (PHILSTAI), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors (PALSCON), IT and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), Philippine Constructors Association (PCA), Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines (SEIPI), Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FFCCCII), ECOP National, ECOP North Luzon, ECOP Pangasinan, ECOP Batangas, and ECOP Quezon.

The ECOP training team was composed of its Director-General Jose Roland Moya, PMD/CSR Manager Rhodora Snyder,  Training & Development Manager Ray Tadeo,  and Legal Services Manager Robert Maronilla.

ECOP and ILO is gearing up for activities planned both for enterprises and employers’ organization which will be implemented throughout 2020. To know more about the project, you may contact Neil Don Orillaneda, ECOP Advocacy and Communications Assistant, at [email protected].
