ECOP, under its Employers and Business Membership (EBMO) Academy, ran two soft skills training modules, namely 1) orientation module and 2) vision-setting module, last 14 February 2020 and 28 February 2020, respectively.

ECOP’s EBMO Academy is a new initiative which aims to strengthen the capacity of EBMOs and its secretariat to advocate for their members and provide technical assistance and services to them and maintain their relevance and representational mandate.

The soft skills training modules, developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO), seek to enhance activity-based and participant-driven learning through an effective methodology for continuous and life-long training. The soft skills training modules include vision-setting, creative thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, reaching consensus, interpersonal communication, public speaking, critical thinking, time management, starting to manage, leadership, personal awareness, working across cultures, and managing upwards. These soft skills, along with higher cognitive skills, are crucial in increasing both efficiency and productivity among workers thereby maximizing business potentials.

Present during the workshop were secretariat staff from ECOP, Philippine Exporters Confederation (PHILEXPORT), IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines (SEIPI), Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU), Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FFCCCII), and Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors (PALSCON).

The soft skills training modules are also available as part of ECOP’s training services offered to its members.
