ECOP brings SDG Value Scan and Soft Skills Training to Masbate

From 4 to 5 August 2025, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) brought to San Jacinto, Masbate the conduct of two back-to-back capacity-building service sessions with the Liceo de San Jacinto Foundation, Inc. (LSJFI) at Paseo Arcenas focusing on sustainability alignment and workforce development.

On 4 August, ECOP Advocacy Specialist Ms. Angela Usero facilitated an SDG Value Scan session using the SDG Value Scan Tool which was developed by the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and localized by ECOP. The activity guided LSJFI in identifying its five priority Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). These priorities reflect LSJFI’s mission to enhance education, promote sustainable livelihoods, and strengthen community well-being while advancing responsible and innovative practices.

On 5 August, ECOP Training and Development Specialist Ms. Thalia Tulad led the peer-to-peer facilitation of the modules on Problem Solving and Starting to Manage under the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Soft Skills Development Program. The training provided participants with practical tools for analyzing workplace challenges, making informed decisions, and developing effective management capabilities essential for building strong teams and fostering professional growth.

Through these initiatives, ECOP continues to help organizations align with global sustainability goals while strengthening leadership and workforce skills in local communities.

Edgardo Lacson

Chairman of the Board

Edgardo G. Lacson is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), and Director of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). He was formerly President and Honorary Chairman of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).  He was the President of ECOP from 2010 to 2016. Ed Lacson also serves as the President of various business firms, including MIS Maritime Corporation, Safe Seas Shipping Agency, Marine Industrial Supply Corporation, and EML Realty. He serves as Chairman of Metrostore Corporation, MIL Export Philippines, Beacon Environmental Management Services and Primelode, among others.

He is likewise Trustee of both the De La Salle Canlubang, Inc. and Philippine Petroleum Sea Transport Association (PHILPESTA), Managing Director of Link Edge, and a member of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), Philippine Interisland Shipping Association (PISA), and Makati Business Development Council (MBDC).

An alumnus of then De La Salle College and now De La Salle University where he earned his degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce (BSC) Major in Accounting, Ed Lacson indeed through the years has expanded his horizons.

Edgardo Lacson serves as Honorary Chairman at PCCI. His previous business affiliations include the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), Marine Chemical Corporation, VLK Traders Philippines, Inc., and Esso Standard Eastern.
