ECOP and PUM Netherlands successfully conclude a series of events on Social Dialogue and Skills Development

Last July 15-19, 2024, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) and PUM Netherlands successfully concluded a series of activities that kickstarted the short-term collaborative partnership to enhance ECOP’s programs on social dialogue and skills development. PUM Expert Mr. Cees Schoenmakers visited the Philippines to help ECOP in the conduct of these activities.

Under the collaboration, PUM will provide technical assistance and support to help ECOP institutionalize the Bipartite Cooperation Network (BCN) and establish the Skills Center and Innovation Hub.

The ECOP Skills Committee, along with the Advocacy Department and Training and Development Department, met with PUM expert Mr. Schoenmakers to lay the groundwork on the Skills Center and Innovation Hub last July 15 and tackled the possibility of offering specialized training programs on emerging topics like generative AI, green skills, and other higher-level skills essential for workforce development in the era of automation and digital transformation.

The Workshop on Social Dialogue for ECOP Chapters, local chamber affiliates, and industry associations was then conducted on July 16 and 17 at the City Garden Grand Hotel Makati which aimed to sensitize participants to the importance of social dialogue in various contexts, such as workplaces, companies, and associations. Representatives from ECOP ZamPen, ECOP Rizal, ECOP Batangas, ECOP Baguio, ECOP North Luzon, and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry were present during Day 1, while the representatives from the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP), Philippine Constructors Association Inc. (PCA), Philippine Hotel Owners Association – PHOA, Philippine Exporters Confederation (PHILEXPORT), and the Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors (PALSCON) attended Day 2.
