ECOP participates in the Private Sector event to End TB in the Philippines
In celebration of World Tuberculosis Day 2024 which happens every March 24, ECOP expressed its commitment and support in its participation during the event entitled “Engaging the Private Sector to End TB in the Philippines: A Marketplace Exchange of Stories and Best Practices” last March 22, 2024 at Rizal Park Hotel, Manila. The event is organized by the United States Agency for International Development TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (USAID’s TBIHSS) Project and Family Health International 360 (FHI 360).
ECOP was represented by its ECOP Occupational Safety and Health Academy (EOSHA) Chair, Dr. Vivien Co-Say, who delivered her presentation during the panel session on various innovative approaches and models in TB screening in the private sector.
ECOP’s presentation focused on its TB in the workplace program entitled “#WorkTBFree” which aims to increase TB awareness and screening in the workplace among its membership base and reach. ECOP’s TB prevention in the workplace dates way back as early as 2019 when it initially partnered with Family Health 360 in carrying out #WorkTBFree initiatives. The collaboration was able to produce an initial baseline assessment of ECOP’s members’ TB in the workplace practices, as well as a training module on installing and managing TB programs in the workplace.
Last 2023, ECOP strengthened its TB advocacy and awareness activities by actively going through different regions and promoting its TB in the Workplace e-learning modules lodged in the ECOP’s e-Campus.
As part of ECOP’s OSH Academy strategic plan for 2024, it will continue to drum up its information dissemination on TB in the workplace on its available social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn Account) and establish #WorkTBFree as a core and permanent program under EOSHA. In the future, OSH Academy will be offering this as part of the training service for ECOP members. Through this opportunity, #WorkTBFreePH web platform will be promoted and utilized by ECOP members.
