ECOP attends Ugnayang Bayan Forum 2024 for the ICESCR Chapter of the 3rd Philippine Human Rights Plan
Last January 30, ECOP attended the Ugnayang Bayan Forum 2024 organized by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and the Presidential Human Rights Committee Secretariat (PHRCS) held at the Cocoon Botique Hotel in Quezon City.
The Ugnayang Bayan is a series of multi-stakeholder forums led by the PHRCS and the lead government agencies coordinating compliance to international human rights treaties. These forums are also part of the activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights last December 10, 2023.
As the lead agency overseeing the country’s adherence to the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), NEDA spearheaded the discussions on “Chapter 2: ESCR as Anchor of Human Progress.” The session highlighted the end-of-term accomplishments, challenges, and lessons learned pertinent to the ESCR Chapter. It also illustrated the government’s application of a human-rights based approach in its programs and activities by utilizing the PANTHER principles as a guiding framework.
ECOP was represented by Project Associate and RBC Focal Jiannah Rosal and Advocacy and Communications Specialist Angela Usero.
