DI officially accredits ECOP as sole provider of SDG Value Scan Tool in the Philippines

Last 06 December 2023, ECOP, in partnership with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), officially launched its new service called the SDG Value Scan during the “Transformative Business: SDGs as a Strategic Imperative” held at the Makati Diamond Residences, Makati City.

The tool, originally from Denmark, was localized in response to the increasing demand for Filipino businesses to be more responsible and mindful of their impact on society and the environment. It is a consultancy session with ECOP where we help enterprises identify which of the SDGs are most relevant to their business in terms of impact and added value.

The forum was formally opened by ECOP President Mr. Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. followed by a recorded video message from His Excellency Ambassador Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Philippines and Palau.

DI Programme Director Mr. Jesper Friis and Head of Projects and Partnerships Mr. Tobias Hansen also provided a brief overview of the 2nd strategic partnership agreement (SPA2) of ECOP and DI entitled “Strengthening Bipartite Relations and Promoting Green, Inclusive, and Sustained Growth”, as well as DI’s various projects and initiatives on green and just transition.

To provide the local context on the UN SDGs, the event was also graced by Atty. Reverie Pure Sapaen, Director of the Governance Staff of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), who discussed the country’s commitments and progress related to the Goals.

The ECOP SDG Value Scan Team, composed of DI SPA2 Project Coordinators Daniella Reyes and Angela Usero, also shared how the tool was localized, its benefits, as well as ECOP’s experience in conducting sessions among pilot enterprises from various industries. Gruppo EMS, represented by Ms. Ellen Ferrer and Mr. Jabbar Usman Garciano, ECOP’s SDG Value Scan co-developer, also shared their best practices on the integration of the SDGs in their business.

The forum ended with ECOP’s accreditation as the sole provider of the SDG Value Scan tool in the Philippines. Pilot enterprises that have undergone the sessions were also presented with their certificates.

These companies include Ibiden Philippines Inc., EMD Technologies, Inc. (NEXEM), Philippine Manufacturing Company of Murata, Gruppo EMS, Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation, Virgen Milagrosa Medical Center, Star Plaza Dagupan, Tulay sa Pag-Unlad, Inc., Gruppo EMS Cebu, MineBeaMitsumi, Philippine Exporters Confederation, Federation of Free Workers, and the Danish Trade Union Development Agency.
