ECOP conducts introductory #WorkTBFree activities in North Luzon and Rizal

The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), in partnership with its Chapters in North Luzon and Rizal, recently concluded an Introductory TB forum entitled “Health and Safety in the Workplace: The key towards a Responsible, Inclusive and Sustainable Business” wherein ECOP’s #WorkTBFree project team presented its e-learning modules on #WorkTBFree under ECOP’s e-learning platform, the e-Campus.

The introductory forums were held during the Chapters’ respective Members General Meeting (MGM) last 20 September 2023 at the Star Plaza Hotel, Pangasinan and 27 September 2023 at the Antipolo City Hall, Rizal.

The forums are a part of ECOP’s #WorkTBFree project, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) USAID Philippines through its TB Innovations and Health Systems Strengthening (TBIHSS) managed by Family Health International (FHI 360), aimed at helping businesses implement a TB Program in the workplace in support of the TB -Free Workplace initiatives of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

These two events also highlighted the role of employers in promoting a TB-free workplace and contributing to the eradication of the stigma and discrimination against TB. ECOP encouraged its members and stakeholders to take stronger coordinated action to prevent TB transmission and include TB elimination in their core responsibility.

Esteemed resource speakers who graced the Introductory TB Forum in ECOP North Luzon included  DOLE Regional Director Mr.  Exequiel Ronie Guzman, ECOP North Luzon President Mr. Salvador Poserio, ECOP Pangasinan President Ms.  Erlinda Pan, ECOP Senior Manager for CSR and Head of ECOP’s Occupational Safety and Health Academy (EOSHA) Ms. Dang Snyder, and ECOP EOSHA Specialist Ms. Shiela Ramos. Also in attendance are other business leaders representing other Employers and Business Membership Organizations (EBMOs) in the regions including the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) and the Philippine Chambers  of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

On the other hand, around 30 participants attended the event in Antipolo City, Rizal. The forum was graced by Second District of Antipolo City Councilor and Committee Chairman of Persons with Disability, Agriculture and Ways and Means – Antipolo City Mr. Lorenzo Juan “LJ” Sumulong III, Association of Technical-Vocational Institutions of Rizal (ATVIR) President & PCCI Antipolo Charter President Mr. Bryant Kim An, as well as representatives from the DOLE Regional Office.
