The International Training Centre of International Labour Organization (ITCILO) has selected the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) as one of the employers groups to participate in the course “Trade, Investment and Decent Work for Asia” last 29-31 May 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The three-day training highlighted the linkages of trade, foreign direct investment, and labor market and its impact for the Asian region to social and economic development of one’s country especially in decent work, responsible business practices, and sustainable development.

Furthermore, the formulation of trade and investment policies, and safety and health working environments can promote cooperation and tripartite dialogue between the workers, employers, and the government. The concept of the Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration) was introduced, as well as the importance of Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), International Labour Standards (ILS), and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), and decent work interlinked with one another.

ECOP, as the sole representative and voice of employers in the policy-making processes in the Philippines, continues to uphold its commitment to guide companies and its members to the right direction through compliance. Thus, it is crucial for employers to realize the importance of RBC, as well as integrate the interest of workers into the daily operations as this attracts more investments and creates more decent employment opportunities that brings sustainable business growth
