The Department of Labor and Employment – Bureau of Local Employment (DOLE-BLR) conducted two fora last 31 July 2019 at Century Park Hotel Manila: Kapihan 2019 and the JobsFit 2022 Labor Market Information Report Forum.

The Kapihan 2019, the first part of the one-day program, was attended by major media outlets like ABS-CBN News, Business Mirror, GMA News, and PTV4, among others. The forum was conducted to brief the audience of the characteristics of the 4th industrial revolution and the initiatives done by various government agencies and stakeholders from both management and labor. Ms. Diane Respall, Programme Officer of ILO Country Office in the Philippines (ILO-CO Manila), discussed the characteristics of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the in-demand jobs and skills brought about by the changes in the world of work. Initiatives and responses by the relevant government agencies, and management and labor sector to the employment challenges in the 4th IR were also tackled during the forum.

The second part was a forum entitled JobsFit 2022 Labor Market Information Report. The JobsFit 2022 LMI Report was presented by DOLE-BLE Director Dominique Rubia-Tutay, while the timeline and methodology employed for the report were presented by DOLE-BLE Statistician Myka Rose E. Trono. A panel discussion was done after the presentations with discussants comprised of representatives from the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), UP School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UP SOLAIR), Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), People Management of the Philippines (PMAP), and the Associated Labor Unions – Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP).

ECOP was represented by its Governor, Mr. Antonio Sayo, who served a resource person, and ECOP Advocacy and Research Assistant Ms. Marianne Rosas.
