The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) held its 9th ECOP Café last 15 August 2019. The kapihan session is a regular engagement mechanism of ECOP to orient members, especially new members, on the services they may avail of, apprise them with the latest issues affecting labor-management relations, and provide a consultation venue to companies with concerns and questions.

The companies were informed of the benefits they will be able to receive as members as well as their obligations as members of ECOP, especially in terms of financial dues and participation duties.

Labor and employment issues discussed in the said session include “An Act Providing that Service Charges Collected by Hotels, Restaurants, and other Similar Establishments be Distributed in Full to All Covered Employees, Amending for the Purpose Presidential Decree No. 442 as Amended Otherwise Known as the Labor Code of the Philippines”, which was recently signed into law, and the Department Order 198-2018 containing the Implementing Rules and Regulations for “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations thereof”.

The Kapihan session was attended by representatives from Benedicto Steel Corporation, Smith Bell Corporation, Linde Philippines Inc., Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp., R.G. Simbulan and Partners Corp., BDO Unibank Inc., and RSCBCS Group of Companies. New ECOP member-companies such as Detpak Packaging Philippines Inc., Huawei Technologies Phils.
