The Employers Confederation of the Philippines conducted another session of ECOP Café last 23 August 2018, with participants coming from new members of ECOP such as All Transport Network Inc., CBI (Philippines) Inc., Filmetrics Corporation, Gainstrong Manpower Inc. Also present on said meeting were representatives from Nograles Law Offices and Puyat Flooring Products Inc.

 

Aside from the overview of ECOP and the benefits of members of ECOP, the other issues tackled in the meeting included updates on contractualization and security of tenure, the pending petitions to increase minimum wage in NCR, highlights of the hearings for the increase on maternity leave benefits and mandatory 14th month pay for private sector workers, and the Court of Appeals decision on the PLDT case. The status of two (2) forthcoming programs of, namely the National Voluntary Regularization and Labor Standards Compliance Program and DOLE–ECOP Certificate Course on Workplace Compliance and Inspection, were also introduced to the attendees.

 

ECOP Governor and Chair of the Technical Working Group on Labor and Social Policy Issues, Atty. Antonio H. Abad, presided over the meeting and shared his views on the legal implications of some of the issues that were discussed. Atty. Sol Nograles of the Nograles Law Offices also presented her analysis of the Court of Appeals decision on the PLDT case.
