With the world of work changing rapidly in the face of driving forces of technology, demographic trends, patterns of economic growth and environmental degradation, skills development and training have become the challenge for employers in ASEAN member states to keep pace and cope with the evolving demands of industry.

The greater challenge, however, is how to translate higher skills into a stronger business performance, better jobs and decent work.

Against this backdrop, the Asean Confederation of Employers (ACE), currently under the leadership of Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) President Emeritus Ancheta K. Tan, is spearheading the conduct of the ACE Conference on April 20 this year. The Conference, on the theme, “Asean Employers: Empowering People, Prioritizing Skills,” will be held at Marriott Hotel, Newport, Pasay City.

The ACE Conference seeks to:

  • analyze the state of skills development according to the perspective of Asean employers of where Asean employers are in terms of skills development;
  • promote collective engagement of Asean employers to ensure more responsive policies and regulations on skills at the national and regional levels;
  • showcase good/best practices on skills development and identify ways of replicating them across the Asean region; and
  • promote cooperation, collaboration and synergies within the ASEAN business community on skills development through an “ACE Framework on Skills Development” articulating the priorities and the way forward.
