ECOP President  Mr. Sergio Ortiz-Luis, Jr., delivered a solidarity message during the Department of Labor and Employment’s 86th Anniversary Thanksgiving Night with the theme “Strengthening Partnerships Towards Decent Work” held last December 3, 2019 at Diamond Hotel, Manila.

In his speech, Mr. Ortiz-Luis acknowledged DOLE as an exemplary institution which has been true to its commitment of advancing the rights and welfare of the Filipino workforce. He also shared how ECOP and DOLE’s partnership has evolved throughout the years.

He said that tripartism and social dialogue have become the cornerstone of ECOP and DOLE’s relationship. Mr. Ortiz-Luis also noted that the areas of tripartite interaction through social dialogue have expanded to encompass not only traditional work and labor relations issues but also a host of labor-market and socio-economic issues.

At the onset of the many changes in the labor market and in the workplace, he reiterated that ECOP is looking forward to working with the Department in providing decent and sustainable work and employment opportunities to the Filipino people, as well as improving the labor market governance which shall ensure utmost respect for all rights at work.

As a final note, Mr. Ortiz-Luis promised that ECOP shall continue to be a staunch partner of DOLE and ILO in the realization of the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) and called on the business sector to step up, work double, and be proactively involved in this advocacy.
