The “Principles-based, Inclusive and Business Sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)” Project team composed of Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP), Federation of Free Workers (FFW), and Danish Trade Union Development Agency (DTDA) conducted a Forum on Social Dialogue and Principles-based, Inclusive and Business Sustainability CSR with representatives from  management and workers of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA)  as participants last October 10-11, 2019 at Subic Peninsular Hotel, Subic.

The forum provided them with knowledge and skills on the concept, principles, and practices of principles-based, inclusive and business sustainable CSR and social dialogue in the workplace.

On the first day, Mr. Alvin Naboya of DTDA explained social dialogue: its definition, forms and levels. Another discussion was about the principles, benefits and challenges in engaging social dialogue mechanisms in an organization. Afterwards, Ms. Shiela Ramos facilitated a session on gathering prevailing practices on CSR. Lastly, Mr. Julius Cainglet of FFW provided a general overview of the CSR Project partnership of  ECOP, FFW, and DTDA.  He also explained the concepts of triple-bottom-line approach (people, planet, and profit).

The second day covered several CSR topics including international CSR instruments and its salient features, compliance and strategic levels of CSR, and business and trade union cases for CSR.

At the end of the workshop, the participants drew up their list of CSR programs and activities in an action planning workshop that will be supported by the project. The SBMA Labor-Management Committee will sit down in a separate meeting to discuss internally the specific details of its priority CSR project activities as contained in the said action plan.
