The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) conducted a workshop on “Good Governance and Leadership” for ECOP Board officers and other EBMO leaders and officials on 21-22 November 2019 at the Holiday Inn and Suites, Makati City. The activity was done under the project entitled “Strengthening Bipartite Relations at the National and Enterprise Levels in the Philippines” which is implemented in partnership with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI). Mr. Bjarne Palstrøm, Senior Advisor of DI, served as the facilitator during the workshop.

The workshop aimed to support further development of sustainable leadership competencies by strengthening the board’s role in setting long-term directions and accelerating impact by showing thoughtful leadership and good governance.

Attendees in the workshop included  ECOP governors and corporate offciers;  ECOP chapter presidents from North Luzon, Pangasinan, South Luzon, Quezon, Naga and Zambasulta; and industry associations such as the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc (FFCCCII), the Philippine Association of Service Exporters Inc (PASEI) and Philippine Association of Legitimate Service Contractors (PALSCON).

Mr. Bjarne Palstrøm gave an overview of the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and its board structure, summary of a previous workshop in  September 2018, snippets on leadership and corporate governance, and presentation of a draft Board Charter that the participants commented on and revised along the way.

Organizational decisions made during the workshop were noted and will be revisited by the ECOP board to enhance further the mandate of the organization in terms of its operations.
