The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) has updated the FAQs  in its website (  to include new laws enacted as of January 2020. The answers to the FAQs are all based on the provisions of the new law and its corresponding Implementing Rules and Regulations.

Among the newly enacted laws are the following:

  • An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSH) and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof (Republic Act 11058)
      • Effectivity Date: December 6, 2018
  • 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law (Republic Act No. 112110)
      • Effectivity Date: March 11, 2019
  • Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law (Republic Act No. 11313)
      • Effectivity Date October 28, 2019
  • Service Charge Law (Republic Act No. 11360)
      • Effectivity Date: November 19, 2019
  • Social Security System (SSS)
      • Effectivity date of increase: April 2019
      • From 11% (January 2014 to March 2019) to 12% with maximum monthly credit of P20,000.00.
  • Philhealth
      • Effectivity date of increase: 07 December 2019
      • From 2.75% with maximum basic salary of P50,000.00 to 3% with maximum monthly salary of P60,000.00.
  • Pag-IBIG
      • Effective date of increase: January 2021
      • From P200.00 (1 August 1986 – 31 December 2020) maximum monthly compensation of P5,000.00 to P300.00 (1 January  2021 to December 2022) maximum monthly compensation of P7,500.00.
