Promoting Responsible Business Conduct in Supply Chains Intermediaries Through Training Delivered by Business Member Organisations

Name of Project: Promoting Responsible Business Conduct in Supply Chains Intermediaries Through Training Delivered by Business Member Organisations
Status: On-going
Timeline: October 2017 – August 2019
Background: The Employers’ Activities Programme (ACT/EMP) of the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO) is leading a project to empower business members organizations (BMOs) to deliver training services on Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). The Philippines has been chosen as one of the direct beneficiaries of this project alongside India, Indonesia, Thailand, Argentina, and Mexico.

The project is funded by The Walt Disney Company and it aims at building the capacity of BMOs to design and deliver relevant training services to enable their member companies to adopt and embed RBC and OSH throughout their operations and business relationships.

Participants: The project is intended for the supply chain of the members of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) and Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PhilExport).

Participation in the trainings under this project is by invitation only.

Objectives: By raising companies’ awareness on the need to embrace RBC and its positive linkages with Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW), the BMOs will contribute to create a conducive environment for responsible and professional business that will benefit their current members and will create the favorable conditions to expand their membership and attract new ones.

Through this project, ECOP aims to:

  1. Enhance and expand its offering of training services to its members on RBC and OSH by organizing at least 12 training sessions from Q3 of 2018 until Q4 of 2019;
  2. Train at least 240 managers and mid-level managers;
  3. Raise companies’ awareness and understanding about the impact of RBC and OSH in boosting business opportunities;
  4. Create a pool of responsible and compliant companies that can exchange with international buyers and enter their respective supply chains.
