The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – NCR (RTWPB-NCR) will hold a public hearings to consult and solicit comments from stakeholders to determine whether a wage order should be issued based on the standards and criteria for minimum wage fixing provided under Article 124 of the Labor Code.

The consultation with employers  will be on 24 October 2018 (Wednesday), 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the D Circle Hotel, Malate, Manila. This will be followed by another consultation, this time involving all stakeholders on 26 October 2018 (Friday) at the 2nd Floor, Rooms A & B, Philippine Trade Training Center, PTTC Building, Pasay City.

The hearings are a follow up on the two (2) wage increase petitions filed by the Association of Minimum Wage Earners and Advocates (AMWEA) and the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) earlier this year which called for an increase of Php 688.00 and Php 320.00, respectively. Both petitions cited the monumental increase in the prices of goods and services as justification.  However, both petitions were dismissed for lack of merit by the RTWPB-NCR last August 2018 through Board Resolution No. 2 series of 2018.

ECOP members are  invited  to attend both hearings and/or submit their inputs on the subject matter. For additional information, confirmation of attendance, and submission of inputs, please contact Daniella Reyes of the Research and Advocacy Department via email at [email protected].
