A good business idea is not the only essential element to start a business. One also needs capital to acquire machines/ equipment, hire people, purchase raw materials, etc. to be able to produce products or deliver services. An existing entrepreneur may also require additional capital to expand business but sometimes is faced also with the challenge of sourcing it. There are pros and cons involved in using one’s own savings, borrowing from another or taking a loan from a financial institution. The presence of a pandemic further complicates the situation for a would-be and existing entrepreneur because the options become narrower. This webinar aims to enable an aspiring/ existing entrepreneur to:
- Know the various options of getting initial capital.
- List the sources of capital
- Describe the role of venture capital
- Identify the best way to finance one’s business during the pandemic

MR. VIKRANT POTNIS
Vikrant is the Managing Director of Fortemagna Advisors Pvt. Ltd – a company focused on corporate finance advisory, venture capital training, and Incubation & Innovation management. Latest funding by Fortemagna includes WorkIndia – India’s largest blue and grey collar platform. WorkIndia raised US$ 6 million from Xiaomi.
Vikrant is also the founder of Indian Academy of Venture Capital (IAVC) which is an initiative to plug in the gaps in understanding the capital raising process for startups and angel investors.
Vikrant has experience across Venture Capital and Investment banking and has worked on transactions upwards of INR 200 Cr. He was closely involved in equity fundraising execution across sectors such as consumer, pharma, technology, healthcare, etc.
Earlier, Vikrant has worked with organizations such as Springboard Ventures, JP Morgan, Mumbai Angels, etc.
He is a visiting faculty of Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital at CIIE IIM Ahmedabad, SPJIMR, The Bombay Stock Exchange Training Institute, V.J.T.I, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, PDPU, etc.
