The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) threw its support behind the 10th Asian Regional Congress of the International Labor and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) which will be held on February 24-25, 2019 at the University of the Philippines (UP), Diliman Campus. ECOP signed a memorandum of agreement with the University of the Philippines, through its  School of Labor and Industrial relations (UP-SOLAIR), which hosts this gathering of academics, researchers, and practitioners, as co-sponsor. The other partners UP are the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), Associated Labor Unions (ALU), Federation of Free Workers (FFW), Sentro ng mga Progresibo at Nagkakaisang Manggagawa (SENTRO), Partido Manggagawa (PM), Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), and IndustriALL Philippines.

The 10th Asian Regional Congress of the International Labor and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) with the theme of “Emerging Patterns of Work and New Forms of Employment Relations, Voice, and Representation in Asia” will have various tracks: (a) Future Work Patterns due to New Technology, Changing Demographics, and Climate Change; (b) Emerging Job, Pay, and Performance Design – Freelance, Platform-Based and New Forms of Employment Relations; (c) Worker Voice and Representation in the Context of Industry 4.0 and the Digital Economy; and (d) Responding to Emerging Challenges: National and Regional Experience in Labor and Employment Policy, and Skills Development. Papers will be presented by delegates coming from Asian countries.

The intent of the conference is to provide an update with regard to the various practices in the work environment as utilized by countries across Asia. It seeks to address important matters regarding new practices and how they affect employers and employees alike. In turn, this will generate essential insights that are useful to the academe, business community and various organizations.
