ECOP conducted a multi-stakeholder consultative meeting for a new Asian Development Bank (ADB) undertaking on the labor market challenges and opportunities posed by Industry 4.0 on 4 July 2019.

The objective of the project is to understand the impact of industry 4.0 on jobs and skills in the Philippines. Based on selected sectors in the country, an analysis will be made on the potential impact of these technologies for jobs displaced and created, as well as the emerging skills that will be demanded in the future by employers. The ADB will be making recommendations on policies and programs that could aid the development of these skills in the future.

This undertaking is in line with ECOP’s thrust of developing strategies that will enable it to assist its constituents in the business community in ensuring that employers are able to cope with the disruptions caused by the 4th industrial revolution, especially on issues related to employment, labor market information system, and skills development.

Attendees included representatives from the Career Development Association of the Philippines, De La Salle University, Don Bosco – One TVET Philippines, DualTech Training Center, EMS Components Assembly Inc., IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines, Makati Business Club, Philippine Institute for Development Studies, Makati Medical Center, and the SFI Career Center.

The meeting was facilitated by Dr. Fraser Thompson and Dr. Genevieve Lim of AlphaBeta Singapore.
