The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) and Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) under their joint project on bipartism held the second thematic workshop last 09-10 July 2019 at the Holiday Inn & Suites, Makati City.

 

The two-day workshop, which focused on “Negotiation Structures and Techniques”, was facilitated by Mr. Niels Gron Seirup, the Head of Collective Bargaining of the DI. The workshop gave emphasis on the importance of setting up formal structures for social dialogue at the workplace. The learnings sessions and training exercises conducted expounded on the first thematic workshop on the theme “The Essentials of Social Dialogue: Concept and Benefits”. Group exercises and role plays done enabled participants to develop mindset and skills that will enable a fruitful and progressive dialogue between management and labor representatives. The participants were taken through the phases of negotiation from preparations over execution to follow-up and were introduced to tools and techniques to negotiate and communicate.

 

The project, which is spearheaded by ECOP,  is jointly implemented in cooperation with other business organizations—Philippine Exports Confederation (Philexport) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PCCI)—as well as three major trade unions in the country, namely,   the Federation of Free Workers (FFW), Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa (SENTRO), and the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP).

 

Management and labor representatives from the following companies participated in the two-day workshop: FEU- Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, De La Salle- Medical and Health Sciences Institute, Valley Golf and Country Club, China Banking Corporation, Mondelez Philippines, Bank of the Philippine Islands, and Maxicare.
