Unifying employers to a common ideal of national prosperity amid industrial peace, the EMPLOYERS CONFEDERATION OF THE PHILIPPINES takes the lead in consolidating and articulating the employers’ interest in matters concerning labor-management relations and socio-economic development.

ECOP strives to achieve this by meeting the following specific objectives:

o Formulate and recommend policy proposals on all issues affecting labor-management relations, as well as on other social and economic policy questions before government agencies and tripartite councils in regional, national, and international conferences

o Enhance professional and ethnical management practices and standards for effective and harmonious labor-management relations

o Encourage and ensure the success of the tripartite consultation machinery to enable workers, employers and government to work harmoniously and effectively towards greater productivity and national progress

o Promote corporate social responsibility based on enlightened self-interest

o Assist employers in continuously strengthening labor-management relations and improving productivity and competitiveness

NEW ECOP PRESIDENT  FOR 2010

The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) announces the composition of its Board of Governors as well as Corporate Officers for year 2010.

Edgardo G. Lacson, president of MIS Maritime Corp., was elected President of ECOP during the Confederation’s annual membership meeting and elections held recently.

The other members of the ECOP Board of Governors are Miguel B. Varela, Chairman of the Board; Sergio Ortiz-Luis, Jr., Honorary Chairman; Ancheta K. Tan, President Emeritus; Rene Y. Soriano, Honorary President; and Donald G. Dee, Chair of the Council of Leaders, along with Rene E. Cristobal, Claus Sudhoff, Mario O. Mamon, Fe T. Palileo, Ranulfo P. Payos, and Feliciano L. Torres as Vice Presidents as well as William Co, Francisco R. Floro, and Jimmy T. Tang as Governors.

On the other hand, the Corporate Officers are William S. Co, Treasurer; Lucila C. Tarriela, Assistant Treasurer; Alberto R. Quimpo, Corporate Secretary; Bienvenido P. Burgos, Jr., Assistant Corporate Secretary; and William D. Dichoso, General Counsel.
